A Message from Tom Nelson
Why does Denton Bible Church need The City?
As God has blessed our church with more people over the years, it has become easier to be a face in the crowd and lose touch with those around us, both here in Denton and with those we have sent out in service across the world. With more people, we have to work harder to maintain the accountability and fellowship that easily occurred when we were in the Sumrall Center (ask Tommy what that is). We have to be in groups; Sunday can’t be all there is. The City helps us recapture that accountability and fellowship by providing smaller platforms of communications to enhance it. Ultimately, The City enables DBC to better be the body of Christ.
Isn’t The City just another social network?
No, it is not. Popular social networks like Facebook, Twitter, Pintrest and others are geared toward individuals and their wants. The City is designed for groups and the needs of the local church. The City gives you the privacy that deep relationships need and doesn’t try to distract you away from your community. Also, whereas most social networks create and replace community, The City begins with real community where our people are already engaged.
How will the church use The City to communicate?
Denton Bible staff will communicate ministry opportunities, prayer requests, event information and more with our body on a church, missionary supporter, and group level. Leaders will communicate with groups and volunteers. Group members will communicate with one another and their leader. There are endless ways for the church to communicate on The City.
