Does Adam Need to Be a Real Person? with Mark Bailey

On November 16, 2015, Dr. Mark Bailey spoke at Denton Bible addressing the question: “Does Adam need to be a real person?”

Bible believing Christians affirm that Adam and Eve were real historical individuals who lived a finite number of years ago. By this account the Genesis narrative is recounting genuine history and refers to real, living and breathing individuals who were specially created directly by God on day 6 of the creation week.

However, many proponents of Darwinian Evolution have argued that the Genesis account of Adam and Eve is purely mythological and should not be taken seriously in any historical sense.  Recently, some who claim to be evangelical christians have also sought to distance themselves from the traditional belief that Adam and Eve were real people.

What is the truth of the matter?

What is the evidence supporting the traditional evangelical view that Adam was a real historical person? What biblical arguments support this proposition? What did Jesus or Paul teach regarding the historicity of Adam? If the Bible is wrong on a question  like this, can it be trusted on other critical issues, like for example the Deity of Christ? Check out the videos below for the answers to these important questions.

Dr. Bailey is currently the President of Dallas Theological Seminary (1985-) as well as a Professor of Bible Exposition. He brings a wealth of scholarly and practical expertise to this subject having earned his PhD. from Dallas Seminary and a Doctor of Divinity from Dallas Baptist University. He was a seminar instructor for Walk Thru the Bible Ministries for twenty years and is uniquely gifted to take lofty subjects like this and bring them down to earth for regular believers.
