Celebrating a Legacy

May 25 | 9:30 AM
One Service
Fellowship to Follow

For nearly 50 years, our church has been blessed to have Tommy and Teresa Nelson. Thousands of people in the metroplex, as well as countless more around our country and even the world, have been edified by Tommy’s faithful exposition of God’s Word during his time as our Senior Pastor. We hope that you can join us in celebrating how God has blessed our church through Tommy’s ministry.

On May 25, we will have one extended service beginning at 9:30 AM, filled with worship from our Music Ministry, a message from Tommy, and a number of videos celebrating how God has worked in the lives of our church’s members and the legacy Tommy has cultivated as our Senior Pastor. There will be no Sunday Bible Fellowships meeting and no children’s activities.

Our desire is for your whole family to worship with us and celebrate the faithfulness of God. Our Children’s Ministry will be providing activity worksheets for your kids to use during the service, and while we truly desire for your entire family to worship and be with us for the service, we understand a long service can be difficult for younger kids. Because of that we have designated various areas around campus to have space for your kids to stretch their legs while you can still enjoy the service.

Fellowship Information

Following the service, we will have food and drink stations throughout the Foyer, Fellowship Hall, and the Student Ministries Center. Some seating will be provided throughout our campus, but, weather permitting, we encourage you to bring lawn chairs as we enjoy a wonderful afternoon of fellowship and continue our celebration of everything God has done in our church. We will also have bounce houses near the SMC for those with younger kids.

If you would like to leave a note for Tommy and Teresa, you can fill out the form below, or you can bring a card to church on May 25. We will have tables for you to leave your card throughout our church building.

FAQs

Will there be Childcare or Sunday Bible Fellowhips?

There will be no other activities or groups meeting on this day. Our desire is that our whole congregation, from babies to seniors, will come together to praise God for how He has blessed Denton Bible Church.

How long will the service be?

The service will be two hours long. The lengthened service is a result of an extended worship time, video testimonies highlighting the lives that have been impacted by Pastor Tommy and his wife Teresa, as well as time where we as a congregation will pray specifically for the Nelsons as they transition to a new season of ministry.

What if the service is too long for my kids?

Our Children’s Ministry will have activity sheets available for your kids. We also understand the length of the service can be difficult for younger kids, so we have designated areas around campus where you can still enjoy the service while the kids can stretch their legs.

Is there a lunch provided after the service?

Our elders are providing barbecue sandwiches along with chips and drinks for a church-wide fellowship following the service. We will have food stations all over our church campus as well as bounce houses for kids to enjoy.

When will the doors open?

Due to sound checks and rehearsal leading up to this particular service, we will open the Sanctuary doors at 8:45 AM to the rest of the congregation. The exterior doors will open at 8:30 AM.
