College Ministry

Evening service every Sunday at 5:30 PM

Location: SMC Auditorium

The Bridge every Sunday at 7:30 PM
Location: SMC Room 105

This time together encourages fellowship and practical application of biblical truth. We feed our college-aged students dinner (because we know 1. by Sunday they are bumming food from friends and 2. Cheetos and Pop-tarts aren’t great building blocks for a healthy diet). After dinner, we spend 30 – 45 minutes discovering practical application of biblical truth into everyday life. Afterward, feel free to stick around and talk, goof off in the gym, or grab a board game.

College Life Groups meet throughout the week
Location: Various homes or SMC

Life is Better Together. Our mission for community is to connect people in authentic relationships that lead to spiritual transformation. We believe that life-change happens best in the context of relationships. In community we are known, loved, cared for, pursued, encouraged, and challenged to be more like Christ. Our goal in community is to live out the “One Anothers” of Scripture, which are God’s instructions on how believers should live life together. We’ll put you together with a group of your peers that fits your schedule and is led by someone who is walking a couple steps ahead of you in life.

Staff Bio

Jake Johnson

I was born and raised in the small town of Krum, Texas. Growing up in North Texas lead to nominal Christianity until attending Denton Bible Church in high school. It was in high school that I became a believer and learned what it meant to walk in a relationship with the Lord. After graduating from Krum High School I attended Dallas Baptist University to pursue a degree in Biblical Studies. It was at DBU that I received training and equipping for a life of service in the Church. I began my role in the College Ministry at DBC in January of 2018. It has been a great joy to engage college students in Denton with the abundant life that can only be found in Jesus. As well as equipping believers to be fully dependent followers of Jesus. Denton is also filled with some of my favorite places. Whenever I have some free time I love playing disc golf at North Lakes or getting ice cream at Beth Marie’s on the square.

Preslie Davis

Growing up in the small town of Rice, Texas I was surrounded by a family who pointed me to Christ daily. I accepted Christ as my Lord and Savior at a young age and have continued to be challenged and grow in my relationship with Him since then. After graduating high school, I moved to Denton to attend The University of North Texas. I graduated with an Integrative Studies degree with a focus in Hospitality Management, Business, and Communications in May of 2018. I have a passion for discipling college age girls and I am grateful for the opportunity to do College Ministry at Denton Bible Church since January 2018. I enjoy getting to share with college students the love Christ has for them and challenging them to grow into a deeper relationship with Him. I am a total foodie so I enjoy eating at all of the local eateries in Denton. I also enjoy sitting in a local coffee shop with a latte and catching up with friends, and the occasional people watching!
