After 11 years in France as SERVE missionaries, the Duncan’s were called into church planting in Asheville, NC. Why Asheville? As an artsy, bohemian, and progressive city in the Appalachian mountains, Asheville has a long history of attracting lost people who want to find themselves in the mountains. Our church name is SOMA ASHEVILLE, and takes its name from the New Testament Greek word for “body,” as in the “body of Christ, the Church." Cities and regions like Asheville need a fresh encounter with the gospel spoken by and modeled by God’s people, His Church. To that end, we are planting a church with a missional emphasis and ecclesiology in this gospel resistant city. Ross is the Executive Pastor along side another DBC alum., Tommy Rutledge. His wife Carmie is an Occupational Therapist and very active in the ministry. Their children are Owen, Isla, and Amelia.
